Voter Education
On Friday, June 10, 2016, Directors from the Foundation made a presentation to students at Trinity University’s Upward Bound Program. PTLEF Chairman, Odis R. Blueitt and fellow board member, Willie M. Heard III, discussed “Politic and Civic Engagement.” Using the non-partisan curriculum for “A Voteless People is a Hopeless People,” Blueitt and Heard III impressed upon the student participants the significance of the franchise for all Americans (with emphasis on women and people of color); the necessity of grassroots politics; the importance of being a well-informed voter; as well as, how to be involved in decisions that affect their communities.
